Design Proposal

Our design proposal included a land clearance and ground preparation phase before final layout decisions were made.

Due to the height difference over the 38 x 6-metre span, we divided the design layout into four themed height sections:

Area 1: An extensive congregational area for guests to relax in the sun.

Area 2. Elevated grassed area with pergola shade.

Area 3. Main entertaining area covered by the Pergola with composite decking floor.

Area 4. Small patio area with a David Harbour centrepiece as the focal point.

As the area was narrow in relation to the length, we decided to remove a well-established, 1 metre thick hedge. This immediately opened the area and brought more natural light into the space.

A slatted Venetian screen and gate was hand built to replace the old fence. This allowed plenty of light and coastal scenery to pour into the space.

The Pergola was constructed from 1500 meters of 4 x 1 prepared PAR timber, which requires three coats of Dulux Weathershield paint to guarantee it’s longevity.

A carefully planned lighting design accentuates the areas, including uplighting the trees and sculpture centrepiece.

Imported Italian multi-stemmed Holm Oak trees add a dramatic feature to the design.

The Pergola area is purposely hidden from the rest of the garden by the screening and Laurel hedging.
